I’m still struggling to find time to keep taking, processing and posting pictures. Jake will be 9 weeks old tomorrow, and I’m hoping that I find some way to get my own projects done eventually.
This shot comes from our Philly-shoot last week. It’s one of my shots, taken in the front window of Metropolitan Bakery on Pine St.
Hey I like this pic. I think it’s the clarity/sharpness that sells for me. You gotta find the time to take those pics. You will be happy you did in the end. It’s worth the effort.
I like the contrast between the organic and the industrial, and the irregular rounded shapes in the fore- and background with both the perfectly round bulb and the linear piping. The colors look nice together also.
And I respectfully disagree with Steve. Wonderful pictures happen every day, maybe not the same ones, but still nifty nonetheless. Jake is changing so much every day – look how much he has grown already! – don’t feel guilty because your priorities have shifted off of your stuff and onto him, that is what Fatherhood should be about. You are living for more than just yourself now, so look for and cultivate and *honor* that balance point between time to lavish your child with love and attention so he feels secure and time to renew yourself so you don’t come to resent the changes he has brought into your life. Show Jake the joy of loving whatever you are doing at the moment, not the draining distractedness of wishing you were somewhere else doing something else which unfortunately characterizes so much of modern living…
And then let me know how you did it, because I’m still looking for my balance point and I don’t even have kids yet! 🙂
steve: thanks, I think the sharpness is what drew me to take the shot. It’s artificial and strange.
Suzy: thanks for the feedback! I certainly agree that pictures happen every day, and as long as I can remember to carry the camera with me I’ll keep getting them. The time to copy them off the camera and get them to the website, well, that’s another matter…
