Fish Out of Water
What wonderfully strange weather we had today! Lots of dark storm clouds rolled through, but with huge gaps between them. Which left us lots of wonderful streaming sunlight and huge blue swaths of sky surrounded by incredibly dark clouds. As I walked to work through the bizarre lighting effect, I stumbled upon another oddity: a tractor. In West Philadelphia. I feel like Kathleen Connally.
Oh, kinda bizarre atmosphere. I really like how you captured the tractor and the background, like two fitting pieces of a puzzle.
I don’t know how some photographers just seem to manage to catch amazing cloudscapes, but you’re certainly one of them. Kudos for a job well done.
Unfortunate that the people aren’t a bit further along in their walk, placing them squarely behind and obscured by the tractor – still, this is a great capture of that elusive storm light. Great that we can see the sky to the rear by virtue of its reflection in the tractor’s windscreen. The fact that you happened upon this scene in this light is a great bonus!
This is such an amazing shot. The DOF is so magnificant and set against such a beautiful cloud formation. Great work!
bk: thanks!
Tai: I think it’s just a matter of having my camera out and with me. Before I started carrying it around everywhere, I didn’t notice nearly as many cool-looking things.
Turfdiffer: they were actually standing there, trying to do some work. The nerve. I thought about shooting it from the other angle, but that would have brought cars into the frame…
Janice: thanks!
This is completely wonderful. I really like the composition, color, tecture, and subject of this piece. Kudos!
The tractor looks like a cycloplse. Beautiful shot but I’m not sure about the people in it. Either way great eye!!

Another cool shot…I like the reflection of the sky in the tractor windshield. Cool earthy tones as well… -T
