Oops
From Penn Relays, obviously. It’s been a busy week at work and home, and I’ve had no time to deal with the pictures waiting to be processed. With mother’s day coming up on Sunday, a small army of relatives coming over, and a kitchen renovation that’s still not done, it’s unlikely that I’ll have much time until Sunday evening.
nice action shot, what do u think of the 350D(rebel xt) for sports photography? is it any good?
Great action shot ! Just in time !
wow! what a great action shot!
oh, just miised the bar…
great action stuff.
great catch!
Nik: I haven’t used a 350D yet, but its specs look good. (I’m using a 300D.) From the exif information from this shot, you can see that you don’t need wildly expensive gear to get a good action sports shot! This was shot at f/5.6, which is as wide as my (fairly inexpensive) 300mm zoom lens goes, and was only 1/640th of a second. Generally you’d want to shoot as fast as possible, but if I can get this at 1/640 then pretty much any SLR body will do (there’s no use fighting over 1/2000 vs. 1/4000). And the 350D is supposed to be faster than the 300D anyway.
Sidney, tinker, red, lydia: thanks! I really wanted to get a shot of her clearing the bar, but it was fairly obvious that she wouldn’t — her launch was far too slow. I think she hit the bar with her knee, which is actually the shot I thought I was going to get. The lag on the 300D seems to have actually helped me on this shot. 😉
