Old Folding Chair
I had a great time today at the Philly Photobloggers’ meetup. Thanks to Alec Long, of Shutter and Pupil for getting the ball rolling, and to everyone else that showed up — it was great meeting all of you!
After lunch, we all went over to Eastern State Penitentiary and shot for something like three hours. I’ll be posting some of my shots over the next few days.
Man, Jorj. This is really really good. I love the toning and light. That place was incredible, wasn’t it?!
Great to meet you, Sue and Jake today. You guys were great. I had a blast shooting with everyone. We’ll do it again in a couple months I think.
You’ve beat us all to posting images from ESP! I think I missed whatever room this is, I don’t remember it at all. It was great to meet you after all this time and Sue and Jake. What awesome sunglasses he has.
I totally love abandoned places shots. This one doesn’t disappoint, either. The colors are fantastic.
I adore eastern state! My former teacher Eric Kunsman is currently showing his work from the penitentary around the US- he used to go there to shoot all the time and they asked him to do a book- he was able to roam around freely inside wherever he wanted for months while doing the shooting. Very lucky!
This image is lovely. The colors are great. Most of the pictures I have done and seen from eastern state are black and white. This is a refreshing change.
I would love to be able to join you all next time you meet!
take care

Alec: yeah, shooting there was an excellent idea. The subject matter was great no matter where you looked!
Albert: this was at the end of the first hall (the one we spent a half hour in), on the left side, through a window. I suspect that by the time you made it that far you were more enticed by the round room in front of you…
Dawn: thanks, this scene spoke to me. I can see someone just sitting there, in this nook of a courtyard between two spokes of prison.
Cheryl: we’ll have to let you know when the next outing comes up! The more, the merrier…
