Priorities
I’ve got my new laptop up and running, but just barely. I’ve got just about nothing installed, and since I’m trying out a new Linux distribution (Debian Sarge), I’m still figuring out where to get all of the miscellaneous cruft that I’ve accumulated under RedHat 9 for the past few years.
So what does one do with a new laptop? Play NetHack, of course.
Seriously, I hope to get back to better photography in a couple of days — once I’ve got the raw photo processors and such working again. The ones I’m using at the moment aren’t nearly as powerful as those I’m used to.
I remember the days of mucking with my linux boxes. Eventually I gave them up when I moved to the Mac. Good luck w/ Debian. Its a good distro.
I *almost* went to a Mac this time around. It was a very close decision, but their recent announcement that they’re moving to x86 architecture swayed me to stay on an Intel box for one more generation. If I didn’t actually need Windows for some of my work, it would have been a much easier decision…
