I didn’t spend much time out today, but I did manage to finally get a picture of the spring near Manayunk. I think it’s gorgeous this time of year. I’ve been cycling past it for at least a decade.

I was pretty sure I didn’t know where this was as my geography of Philadelphia is limited to places you can walk to, take a subway to, or cram in a cab with 4 other girls to go clubbing at. …but Jorj, bless his heart, reminded me of the summer I was conned into going for a 10mi walk out to the Falls Bridge from our abode on 39th and Baltimore (she jogged while I walked, and I’m fairly sure it’s more than 10 miles). In my defense I thought we were just going to go to the museum and back. But no, we had to cover the entire length of the park (as we all know it’s the largest: http://www.ushistory.org/districts/fairmountpark/welco.htm). We went up the museum side and came back the zoo side. Once we reached the zoo, it, ah started to rain. As we were getting soaked, my roommate, Xena (no that’s not how you actually spell it, but darn it it’s funnier), suggested that her outfit was just right for the occasion – hot pink bikini underneath white t-shirt. And she was serious – which made for quite an interesting walk home through Powelton Village.
And at the farthest point of your walk, you were right across the street from this waterfall! It’s on the West River Drive side of the Falls bridge. Thousands of people drive past it daily… I wonder how many of them know it’s there.
Really nice shot!
Marina: Thanks for the feedback! I’m most happy that this piece of beauty is right by one of the most busy streets in the city, nicely nestled away in its own little world.
