I’m a little light on material at the moment, so I’m posting something from my archives. Every spring Penn digs up the trees in this particular field (which line the walk between Drexel’s campus and Penn’s campus) and plants new trees. This is the operation in progress this April.
Hmmm. Do you have one with the second tree in focus? I’d like to compare.

Hehe, thats funny, I was about to say exactly the same. The second or third (or both) trees in focus would be more interesting I think.
And I thought the same thing as well. I didn’t realize how shallow the depth of focus was when I took this shot, and the next day the trees had already been planted.
No one asked the obvious question – why dig up and replant every year? What’s up with that? sounds like a waste of student tuition to me.
I think they’re using it as nursery space for trees. I can’t fault Penn’s landscaping and hardscaping crews; they get near-miraculous results in very little time. A co-worker and I think it would be a great perk for Penn to offer their services to employees. 🙂
