The Dropoff
Second shot in the series from Ralph Stover State Park. It may be a little hard to tell at this resolution, but take a look at the two versions and let me know if you have a preference for one or the other. The one I posted is slightly softened (on the right) while the other one isn’t. My wife thinks the original is better, and I prefer it softer.
Not sure which I like more. I guess I’m not super crazy about the shot in general, but not being a photographer I couldn’t tell you if it is a “good” or “bad” shot – it just simply doesn’t draw me in. What I do find myself looking at are the bare trees (they are trees?) in the midst of the ones with colorful leaves. They look ghost like. I would be interested in seeing how you could alter the image to bring this out more, even in a very unnatural-looking, very post-processed way. Reminds me of the river Styx and the shades of the deceased crossing over…
Maybe you had to stand on these rocks to get the experience, but that’s good feedback! Those are trees, and I did take a couple of shots of bare trees in this series; I’m not sure if any of them will be posted or not just yet. It depends on how long I run this series… Anyway, thanks for the feedback! I’ll see what I can cook up for you.
I prefer the original. The second one looks a little washed out. The stronger colors and the finer details on the stone makes it more interesting. (Sorry, can’t diagree w/ my hostmum ;-))
BTW, I think u r right, if I had been up there, I would like the picture much better… probably.
ok, time is up. School is waiting for me ……..
heh. I’d never ask you to disagree with your hostmum. 😉 Thanks for the feedback.
