This is a very unusual sight. A SEPTA train with no lights on, sitting essentially in center city Philadelphia. (This is along JFK, at about 24th Street.) Yes, adding insult to injury for SEPTA, their commuter rail lines (the only part of SEPTA that isn’t currently on strike) lost all power at 4:30 PM. As I sit here in a restaurant in center city enjoying my third Bass Ale (you Brits know what you’re doing), I wonder if they’re running again yet. At 5:50, 30th Street Station was announcing “at least an hour.” At 6:10, Suburban Station was announcing “we don’t know when they will be running again.”

I’m sure this one isn’t SEPTA’s fault, but it sure doesn’t look good for them to have such a major service disruption when they’re trying to service 400,000 displaced bus and subway riders…
