Shades of Green
This week’s PhotoHunt entry: a photo whose only color is green.
I almost scrapped this one (to reshoot, of course) because the bonus points are for “three or more shades of green.” According to my gimp-o-meter, the background is a very dark green (not quite black). The bottle has at least a gold-green, a medium green, and a dark green in it. Maybe I just want this shot to qualify too much, and I’m justifying my color scheme. Anyway, it’s late and I’m not shooting it again, so there.
As for how this was set up: a glass cabinet door, spanning two chair seats, served as a light table. The camera flash (with a diffuser) is under the door, pointing up at the bottle. On top of the glass is a sheet of dark green paper, and the bottle is standing on top. The only fancy thing here is the camera…
I had an old frog lying around for the scavenger hunt, however, there is some brown and grey in the shot. I see you have been dominating the hunt and, with
this photo, will continue to do so.
Good entry and use of available parts.
Beautiful DoF!
Nice work. 🙂
John, that frog is FANTASTIC. Where the heck did you shoot that? (And welcome aboard! I’m glad to see more familiar faces in the photo hunt.)
Tetsu: thanks!
Jorj,
Thanks! That is a waxy monkey frog that was making rounds in the Chorus of Colors exhibit that appeared nation-wide. This one was taken at the Museum of Natural History in New York. A few months after the New York appearance it made it to the Academy of Natural Science in Philadelphia and then the Baltimore Acquarium.
This was shot through glass, which posed its own challenges. Finding an angle that avoided child-sized fingerprints was a challenge.
Great shot – I need not have worried about stealing any thunder from you! (And maybe next time I’ll be more inventive and less lazy!)
