Mineral Mouse

Mineral Mouse

I wanted this shot to be straight horizontal. Really, I did, as hard as you may find that to believe. After shooting it for more than half an hour, I came to the conclusion that I’d have to set up better lights to recreate the magic from this one serindipitous canted shot. Sorry, I don’t have enough time to set it up properly tonight!

And the name of the shot sounds like it belongs in a 70s Saturday morning cartoon. 🙂

I’m putting this up for my own submission to the weekly photo hunt (“a mineral; 1 bonus point if there is an animal with your mineral”). In this shot we see salt, soapstone, and veins of quartz through it. The cobalt is a processed artifact from cobalite (which would be a mineral). The mouse is made of ivory, which hardly counts.
