Crazy Nut
You just can’t make this stuff up.
That’s me, wearing a prototype contraption I’ve built. There’s a hard flash at about 50 degrees off to my right and stiff black cardboard (too close) behind me. The camera is about 2 feet in front of me.
The contraption is a clock that lights up LEDs at a certain time. The thing over my left eye (the right side of this picture) is a 7-segment LED display. There’s an Altoids gum tin on each side; the one that’s visible holds the power supply. The other one holds the clock circult.
I love this. I don’t mind the little bit of spill on the background. I love how the right side fades into the darkness, constrasted but the thing over your eye.
If I’d criticise anything, I’d like to see a little more rim light, but that’s picking nits.
I’m also impressed by the sharpness; I seem to have a lot of trouble with that in self portraits, even at f/16.
The expression, the gear, and the blackness make for good mystery. You should publish this somewhere with no explanation and see what captions people come up with… 🙂
P.S. Ben says, “I hope they’re Jake’s glasses.”
“Resistance is futile. We will add your uniqueness to our own. We are Jorj.”
