Piano
I’ve been on the fence about posting this one for a long time (as you can see from the EXIF header information above). Initially the grainyness bothered me a lot, but the more I see it the more it’s growing on me.
So the question is: does this photo pass muster? What is good or bad about it? (I’m hoping for some bad, guys. Really.)
(And incidentally, you may have noticed a few changes to the blog software, as I’ve updated it a tad. If you see anything that’s obviously broken, let me know.)
woah! this angle is all trippy! not sure i really like the angle. for me my eye immediately went to the photos on top of the piano and theres something interesting about how people display their own photos in their house and I was drawn to that. but this angle made the shot about something else. but i love it when people experiment with photography, it is the best way to get great shots.
I really like the yellow orchids and their shadow on the red wall and the red wall against the yellow wall. Maybe another picture that was just the flowers – the color saturation would be great! [Sue picked such a nifty color for your living room!] The angle made me want to turn my head to figure it out, but I think you were trying to line up the piano keys with the bottom of the frame, right?
I don’t like the angle too much, either. I feel like everything is going to slide right off the edge of the image. I don’t think that the “white” space to the left adds as much as it could but that might be because of the yellow-ish glow.
This is such a memory evoking image. Reminds me of my childhood.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I agree that the angle is distracting, but as I said, the image is growing on me. And Suzy’s comment about the contrast of the flowers is pretty much right on with my own thinking. I’d like just the flowers, their shadow, and the red wall. Maybe we’ll see that soon. 😉
