It’s been a while since I posted an abstract. This one is from Santa Fe, NM. The cloud peering out from over the wall caught my attention.
And as I post this, I see that there’s a colorspace problem that I have to deal with; the colors in this posted version are slightly more muted than what I started with. Hmm.
For the record, I didn’t do it.
As for the color space, there is no embedded profile and no EXIF tags, so even a color-managed browser doesn’t know what to do with this. But a spot check of a few other recent POTDs show that’s your usual M.O., so I can’t explain what’s special about this one. I’d recommend you always embed the profile.
I figured it out, I think. I’m not sure how I’m going to fix it yet. The shots are being uploaded with a color profile, but they’re being dynamically resized by a script that doesn’t carry the embedded information through properly.
I have a partial fix in place. At least the color profile information is being copied into the scaled-down images now. And now I see that the resizing process is wreaking havoc with the sky in this image (not visible from a non-color-managed browser, but very obvious in one that is).
