Contemplation
A semi-recovered shot from my recent trip to the Catskills. Some time between leaving my house and taking pictures from the top of a mountain the next morning, a more-than-healthy amount of dust settled on my sensor. I’ve done some significant work around the edges of this shot to remove dust to try to rescue the shot.
As the clouds show, it was very stormy (rained a few times overnight while I was camping) and there was some significant fog blowing through. Some of it managed to sit right behind me in this photo, and I find the halo it helps cast around me very distracting. The halo is unfortunately accentuated by my postprocessing.
I agree about the halo — too much Clarity? Nice job holding still for 1/8th!
I suspect the mood at the time was more powerful than the photo is able to convey.
I fiddled with the clarity at the end of PP to try and eliminate the halo, but not before. Dropping it below zero wasn’t helpful. But I hadn’t otherwise changed the contrast specifically (either via clarity or coarsely). Going through my changes in Lightroom one at a time, I saw that the halo really was there in the original shot; it’s just that my black clipping bump made it terribly obvious…
You always did look like Jesus.
