Trapped Under Ice
It’s snowing! And a lot, too. We’ve got something like a foot of snow already, and I so want to be outside shooting. Instead, I’ve been finishing the electrical work in the kitchen and pre-washing cloth diapers. I’m sure you’re all fascinated to hear that.
I hope everyone likes this shot, because it took several months and at least one wet foot to get right. These leaves were in the water-catching tray under a flowerpot (with the flowerpot moved aside), which a few leaves drifted into and filled with water around November. The water eventually froze, but I didn’t like the shots, and stepped on the tray in the dark in December. My wife will probably be happy that I finally got the shot so we can move the tray off the steps…
haha she should definitely be happy not only because she can move the tray, but that you also got a really cool shot! the motion is frozen in this frame…great job!
I also suggest you try to finish the electrical work asap. its snowing a bunch and its beautiful photo weather =)

This is quite incredible. The trail of bubbles in the ice create a sense of frozen motion. And the blue background is a wonderful canvas. Really great.
This is beautiful. You did a great job catching the image. I really like this one.
beautiful colors in this. they have such warm tones for such a cold subject. excellent.
Thanks, everyone! I am also really happy with this one. I was trying for pretty much this effect, although the bubbles did freeze in ways that I hadn’t initially expected. The vibrant fall colors trapped in the winter weather really do it for me. It’s like a snowball in July!
Whoa, I didn’t even realize it was ice until I read the description. Well done.
Wow this image kinda hurts my brain. It’s very beautiful which is always good, but it’s also very disorientating. I like that even more. Nicely done!
reminds me of thick soap with golden leaves inside, pretty.
Great job – looks unbelivable in a fantastical way.
excellent shot, great work!
look like painitng, nice texture, very creative!
