Cold
Continuing with the “ice” theme… we have more than a foot of snow, and I did manage two short photo shoots today. One was from inside, where I foolishly left the windows closed for many of the photos. Of course, the old glass didn’t do well with the telephoto lens. I really should have realized that…
The second shoot was outside, from which this comes. Yes, our roof has some gutter and drainage issues… why do you ask?
wow, interesting ice shot. i really enjoy how the ice fills the entire photo.
I tried to get some good ice shots a couple of weeks ago when we had our storms out here. Nothing turned out as nicely as this.
fantastic shot. as many icecycle images as i’ve seen, this is probable the best and most original. great perspective and color. these icecycles look huge.
Thanks for the feedback. The best compositional advice I ever got, aside from (of course) “fill the frame,” is “always shoot horizontally and vertically.” I have a head-on (horizontal) shot of these same icicles, and it’s kind of boring. The vertical shot is clearly much more dramatic.
I was also trying to get some water dripping off of them, but I just couldn’t get it timed right… and darn it, it was cold out there! 🙂
Hi jorj, thanks for visiting and voting mt photoblog (lifepixels) as one of your favourites.
You photos are very nice. I like this one. Great zoom in shot. Where is this place?
yungyaw: this is outside my living room window, near Philadelphia. The shot was taken from outside. Keep posting pictures — I like what I’ve seen so far!
