Grand Canyon Perseverance No.7

This shot – its colors, the sharp contrasts, the canyon, the scrub brush – all grab me. There’s so much going on that I want to figure it all out. I don’t know where my eye started the first time I looked at it – but now, I see the scrub brush first, clinging to the top of the cliff. My eye sweeps off to the left, wondering if I could walk out that ridge to get a better view; I pick up the contrast of the clouds, marvel at the storm for a moment, and plunge into the valley. Pleasantly, I find the Colorado River – the creator of the scene. It brings me to the ridge on right, whose strong striations take me back to the river. Which I feel is appropriate. I wish this were a gigapixel shot and I could go examine the river in detail…
